Honorable Guest of Honor,

Expanding and increasing support to host communities in Kigoma will help to decrease tensions and misunderstandings between the refugees/migrants and the host population. Therefore, the UN will be embarking the Kigoma Joint Program which is to start implementation this year. The Kigoma Joint Programme is an area-based UN joint-programme that cuts across multiple sectors to improve development and human security in Kigoma. The programme involves 16 different UN Agencies and was developed in cooperation with the regional and district authorities based on the development needs of Kigoma and the capacities of the UN in Tanzania.

I’m pleased to note that the Government of Tanzania has recently launched the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF) which signals a major juncture in the way in which the Government, international community, and other key stakeholders respond to refugees in Tanzania. We acknowledge the incredible generosity of the government of the United Republic of Tanzania in hosting refugees now, during the last decade and ever since its independence.

On this special day Lets all remember that we live in a world where an unprecedented number of people have been forced to flee their homes because of war or persecution, it is vital we demonstrate to world leaders that the we stand #WithRefugees and that concrete solutions must be found to refugee crises.

The UN country team is delighted kusimama pamoja na wakimbizi.

Asanteni!
